How We Use Information
- Provide and maintain the app, including cloud sync and account management.
- Save your learning progress, stats, and story outcomes across devices.
- Process subscriptions and verify premium access.
- Deliver reminders, Direct QSO alerts, and occasional app or content announcements only when notifications are enabled.
- Deliver Direct QSO messages, enforce friendship and subscription access, moderate abuse, and review reports.
- Sync scratchpad notes and raw ink across your signed-in devices.
- Respond to support requests and fix issues you report.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud.
- Measure aggregate app launches and diagnose crashes and release regressions.
What’s Optional
- Feedback submissions (message + optional screenshot).
- Profile bio and country code.
- Friend features and public profile visibility settings.
- Direct QSO messaging, reports, and synced scratchpad data.
- Push notifications and reminder scheduling.
You can use MorseForge without providing optional data. If you choose to submit it, we use it only for the features you opt into.
Direct QSO Messages and Moderation
Direct QSO is limited to eligible accepted friends. Message text is stored so the recipient can play and review it. Automated moderation may analyze message text before delivery, and a report may preserve the reported message and the reporter's optional notes for review. We use OpenAI as a moderation service provider; message content sent for moderation is used only to classify safety under our instructions. Push notifications identify that a Morse message arrived but do not include the message text. Message content and scratchpad content are excluded from release analytics and crash-report metadata.
You can block or unfriend another user. MorseForge may restrict messaging or suspend an account to investigate abuse, protect users, or comply with law. Contact contact@morseforge.com about a report or moderation decision.
Scratchpad and Handwriting Recognition
Signed-in users may sync scratchpad text, raw ink strokes, button position, and recognition preferences through Supabase. Handwriting recognition uses a language model downloaded to your device. Recognition occurs on-device; MorseForge does not send your ink or recognized text to its servers for recognition. The model download requires network access initially and may remain cached for offline use.
You can disable the scratchpad or handwriting recognition. Raw ink remains available unless you explicitly clear it or delete your account.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
MorseForge may request microphone access only when you choose voice-based input features. Speech recognition for these features is processed on-device.
- We do not transmit speech audio to MorseForge servers.
- We do not store speech recordings on our servers.
- Speech input is used only to evaluate your answer in-session and is discarded when the session ends.
Where Your Data Is Stored
We use Supabase for authentication and cloud data storage. Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, and subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. Push delivery is provided by Expo and the platform notification services. Direct QSO safety classification is provided by OpenAI. Email notifications are managed by Mailchimp. Expo Insights provides aggregate app-usage information, and Sentry processes privacy-filtered crash reports in release builds. These diagnostics are configured not to attach account identity, Direct QSO message text, scratchpad content, screenshots, or interaction breadcrumbs.
Sharing and Disclosure
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your data with third parties for advertising.
- We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the app (Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, Expo, Sentry for privacy-filtered crash reporting, OpenAI for Direct QSO moderation, and Mailchimp for launch emails).
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We keep account, progress, synced scratchpad, push-subscription, and Direct QSO data while your account is active or as needed to provide the feature. Deleting your account removes your cloud profile, synced scratchpad, device push subscriptions, and Direct QSO threads and message content. Local data and downloaded handwriting models can be removed by deleting the app. Some transaction, security, or de-identified operational records may be retained when required by law or needed to protect the service. Feedback screenshots are retained only as long as needed to review and resolve your request.
Your Choices
- Update or delete your account in the app, or contact us if you cannot access it.
- Unsubscribe from email communications using the link in any email.
- Disable cloud sync by not signing in.
- Disable push notifications through app or system settings and change reminder preferences in the app.
- Block or report a Direct QSO user and stop using Direct QSO without deleting your account.
